This first pet friendly park of it’s kind in Tulsa has drawn publicity from all forms of media in Tulsa. In order to better server our readers, We are asking that if you have link to submit about other Oklahoma Dog Parks, that you do so here by commenting below this post. Let’s let all of the visitors to this great state know about all of the pet friendly parks in Oklahoma!
Here some great pre-grand opening photos taken at Tulsa’s first off leash Dog Park, Joes Station Bark Park, between July 16 and July 23, 2008. {Edit - Photos have been moved to the PHOTOS page]
Tulsa’s first official off leash dog park - Joe Station Bark Park - has been several months in the making. Many volunteers, task force members and community leaders along with The City of Tulsa, have worked “paw in paw” to launch this great park which is sure to be the first of many in Tulsa. Located at 2279 Charles Page Boulevard in Tulsa, the first dog park, Joe Station Bark Park - is a converted baseball field with enough green to make an Irishman blush! There is an area for small dogs and one for large dogs. The park has lighting for night time romps, water pails for thirsty hounds and restrooms for handlers.
Mark the date of August 9th on your calendar, because that is the day that the dog park officially opens. You can visit the park before the August 9th opening if you like. Many Tulsan’s have already brought their pawed pals to Joe Station Bark Park and have had great things to say about their initial visit.
“…Hey! took my dog Wisdom to the dog park yesterday. He had such a good time I didn’t want to leave. Great job guys, thanks alot. I really appreciate all who had part starting this project, Thanks again and bless everyone. Now let’s take (advantage) of it…” - mobrown58
“…I took my dogs to the dog park tonight and we had a blast! … It seems that 7pm is a good time to go. When I got there my dogs were greeted by many. Between 7 and 8:30 there were always between 10 and 15 dogs there, some coming - some going. I heard someone say that they counted 17 mutts at one time - all having the time of their lives…” - markh
