Several months ago we featured a T-Shirt design contest. The winner of the T-Shirt design was Brett Elbon. We now have a very limited stock of the new and official Tulsa Bark Park T-Shirts! This is an official announcement from the Tulsa Bark Park Task Force. As of 11/14/08 the large and small dogs areas have been rotated.

The large dogs will be on the North Side of the park and the small dogs will be on the South Side of the park. The signs are switched to remind all visitors.

Please note that the water has been turned off for the winter, so please bring water for you dogs whenever you visit.

All who volunteer and are interested in volunteering are welcome!

The Joe Station Bark Park has been advised that Giardia, an intestinal parasite that is found in nature and transmitted by contact with the feces of a wild or domestic animal is a concern.

This disease can be transmitted to you or your pet through water, puddles or streams they have been contaminated. If left untreated, severe health problems can arise. These diseases are zoonotic meaning that they can infect humans as well as animals. Concerns regarding these diseases should be discussed with your own Doctors and Veterinarians.

To minimize the risks of exposure:

• WASH YOUR HANDS OFTEN.

• DO NOT ALLOW YOUR PET TO DRINK FROM SHARED POOLS.

• TALK WITH YOUR VETERINARIAN ABOUT THIS, AND OTHER OUTDOOR HEALTH RISKS AND FOLLOW THEIR ADVICE.

• TALK WITH YOUR VETERINARIAN IF YOUR PET IS LETHARGIC, NOT EATING, OR HAS DIARRHEA.

• PLEASE, ALWAYS PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOG AND REMIND OTHERS TO DO THE SAME.

• DO NOT BRING DISEASED DOGS TO THE BARK PARK.

The greatest risk to your pets is drinking from pools or bowls where other pets have deposited soil, grass, or other potentially contaminated sediments. Therefore we have removed the plastic pools and bowls. Park users are encouraged to bring personal bowls and not share drinking bowls with others. If you need to hydrate your pet, please try to have it drink from a hose. If that does not work, you may rinse one of our bowls, use it, and rinse again.

We will also be taking donations and spreading good will about the parks.

Cub scouts will be handling some questionnaires for us during those hours so we can get an idea of where our park visitors are are from. Cub Scouts will be conducting these census questions between 9am and 6pm on both days.

We ask that all park volunteers make a special effort to visit the park (with their dogs of course) to assist during the event.

(This event is of course, weather permitting.)

Visitors do need to abide by park rules of course in order to be in compliance with Tulsa City ordinances. (Ya don’t want to get ticketed!)

Do you want to be famous? Would you like your work to be recognized by thousands? Well here is your opportunity. We are looking for the best, most original, creative idea for the new Tulsa Dog Park T-Shirt. Get your creative juices flowing and start designing!

The Rules:

1. All contestants must be 12 years of age or older.
2. All designs must be original! No copyright infringement will be permitted.
3. Keep your original artwork to three colors or less.
4. The t-shirt colors will be Red, Stone Blue, Charcoal, and Grey. Keep this in mind when creating your design.
5. Designs may be submitted in any format, however the resolution should be 600 dpi or greater if submitting electronically.
6. The design will appear on the front of the shirt with www.tulsabarkpark.com and the City of Tulsa logo on the back.
7. All artwork becomes the property of Tulsa Dog Parks and the City of Tulsa.
8. Entry deadline is Friday, October 31st, 2008. The winner will be announced on Saturday, November 8th, 2008..
